Algonquin Park Camp Wedding // Grace + Brett

A first kiss, a proposal and now a wedding.

When Grace & Brett told me their history at Camp Ahmek I knew their wedding day would be special…

A journey, a boat and a first look….

As the morning fog broke, guests enjoyed a camp breakfast and spirited canoe race to kick off the wedding day. Then the wedding party cruised over to the nearby girls camp island in the sunshine for Grace & Brett’s first look amongst the pines.

The couple said their “I do’s” in a heartfelt ceremony performed by loved ones as the evening sunshine streamed though the trees. The ceremony featured a long aisle of white petals sprinkled over the pine needle forest floor with clusters of ferns and lanterns flanking the couple. Bridesmaid’s carried custom floral hoops which were integrated into the head table backdrop.

While the camp had a huge dose of romantic significance and allowed the couple to share both their history and a camp experience with their guests, it was not short of it’s challenges. The LME team had to solve the issue of lighting as the dining hall had a zero candle policy and only three power outlets - only 3! For a huge room with no lighting other than 8 exposed lightbulbs this was going to be tricky.
So our design featured battery-powered fairy lights woven into the table garlands which also incorporated the copper colour palette. We also created the custom head table backdrop which poured dramatic, warm light onto the dance floor.

When designing Grace & Brett’s wedding I wanted to draw on all of the nostalgic camp memories we all shared. So we designed their seating chart using the black and white letter beads I remembered from friendship bracelets and custom origami paper game menus.

Being a part of Grace & Brett’s “Camp Mustard Davis” weekend wedding in Algonquin Park was a refreshing experience. It reinvigorated my love Muskoka and brought back so many memories from my childhood here. I’m left thankful that I got to know such a wonderful, generous couple and be a part of their love story.
