Last week Lindsay + Andrew's lakeside wedding was featured on The Wedding Co. Today we are sharing a little bit from behind the design of this stunning fall wedding here in Muskoka.
After meeting Lindsay + Andrew we quickly realized how outdoorsy these two were. They are total adventure seekers and have travelled to many different places going hiking, skiing, and even white water rafting! In fact it was on one of these trips together that Andrew proposed beside a calm & quiet lake (how romantic!) When we asked them to tell us about their relationship we learned that the one thing they absolutely love doing together is spending time at the family cottage during the Summer season, and this was where they had decided to tie the knot. Our inspiration truly became all about the natural outdoor settings that surrounded them, and in areas where we couldn't be directly outdoors we wanted to focus on bringing the outdoors inside.
Immediately we were jotting down notes about floral trees, long wood tables overflowing with flowers, and transforming the basement into an enchanted forest with greenery, twinkle lights and chandeliers.
Although the couple decided to have their ceremony on the cottage property, their reception and dance was happening down the street at Lumina Resort, a place where their entire family had spent many evenings having dinner and watching the sunset over the lake. We had no doubts in our mind about Lumina, the space is stunning with floor to ceiling windows, wooden beams, and a view of the lake that is seriously breathtaking. However, one of our biggest challenges to overcome was that the dance portion of the evening was happening in the basement rec room at Lumina, with low ceilings and metal jack beams throughout. Figuring out how to utilize this space and continue a seamless design throughout was something we really needed to work on. We focused on bringing in the natural romance of the forest, and truly transforming the basement so it was as awe-worthy as all the other spaces, making it feel enchanted.
Our favourite part of the day was how organically the ceremony came together. The family property and weather were perfect, and all of the decor complimented the landscape. The arch that the Groom handmade himself was stunning, overflowing with gorgeous blooms that were intertwined with a soft grey organza. The harvest chairs were a big part of the ceremony design and really popped in the open space; and the location couldn't have been more beautiful, with the ceremony nestled lakeside surrounded by trees, and the bride ascending from the flagstone staircase.
